For these reasons, and others, Bermuda boasts several data centers ranging from the very simple to the very complex.

Customers generally tend to use data centers in two ways:

1. Duplicated services at the data center for Disaster Recovery/Service Continuity plans. In this configuration, all data at the office is duplicated in real time at the data center. In the event of a disaster, the customer can relocate key staff to the DR location, and the staff will have access to all the data available at the office. To accomplish this setup, mirrored servers in both the office and the datacenter are required. This requires the customer to purchase dedicated servers and software to run in parallel in both locations.

Quantum provides high speed LAN -type Ethernet services at speeds of 10Mbps, 100Mbps and Gi gabit Ethernet. This allows companies to move mission criticals from their offices directly to the datacenter. Customers accessing the servers over these connections experience the same speeds as they do accessing the servers on their corporate LAN .

1. Daily backup of data from servers in the customer office to a backup server in the datacenter. Under this configuration, large volumes of data are backed up on a daily basis from servers in the office to a server in the data center. This requires significant bandwidth in order to back up the data in a relatively short period of time. Many companies are forced to run partial backups given the backup window available.

Quantum offers an After Hours Backup service, which provides a circuit between locations that runs at 10Mbps from 7am to 7pm , and increases to 100Mbps from 7pm to 7am . This provides a company a data pipe large enough to back up enormous amounts of data in the limited overnight window.
